A New Overland Build: Outfitting the Tacoma
Recently, we teamed up with Northern Colorado Powersports. Together, we outfitted a Toyota Tacoma, purpose-built for Alpine overlanding. We installed six Custom Dynamics’ Shark Demon® Off Road LED Lights on the roof.
Here’s how we set it up:
Selective Yellow Fog Lamps for Ultimate Clarity
We added four SAE Selective Yellow Fog Lamps. Each one produces 8050 raw lumens (2050 effective lumens). Selective yellow lighting is a big advantage. First, it cuts through dust, snow, and fog. Second, it reduces eye strain during long hours on the trail. Simply put, you can see more and drive safer.
Dual-Beam White Shark Demon® Lights for Versatility
Next, we installed two Dual-beam White Shark Demon® lights. These are not your typical off-road lamps. Each features a unique switch between low and high beam modes. On low, you get 3600 raw lumens (2651 effective lumens). On high, you get an amazing 9080 raw lumens (3216 effective lumens).
But there’s more. Unlike other off-road lights, these offer smooth transitions. The three-position, non-interrupting rocker switch lets you change between high, low, and off. There’s no flicker or blackout. Just seamless lighting. An illuminated blue icon shows you exactly which setting you’re using—even in the dead of night. Installation is just as simple. Our detailed wiring diagram takes out the guesswork.
Built for the Outdoors
Now, let’s talk toughness. Shark Demon® lights are IP67 rated. This means they’re fully waterproof and dustproof. The polycarbonate lens can take a beating. The gloss black aluminum housing resists impacts. Plus, the sturdy stainless steel bracket and included hardware make mounting easy and secure. An extended 6ft wire harness gives you flexibility, no matter your build.
Extra Protection on the Trail
Overlanding isn’t gentle. Rocks, mud, and flying debris are part of the adventure. That’s why we offer a hard-coated polycarbonate rock guard (sold separately). It snaps on easily and fits snug. Importantly, it protects your lights without blocking any illumination.
